Not every repair can be paintless. When the paint is cracked, chipped or gone, the panel gets straightened, prepped, primed and refinished properly. On a truck the part people underestimate is the blend, because the panels are enormous. A bed side that stops at a hard edge with a slightly different metallic will catch the eye from thirty feet away in a parking lot.

The refinishing sequence

The panel is straightened and the surface is worked flat before any product goes on.
Primer and sealer go down so the topcoat has a uniform surface to sit on.
Color is matched to the vehicle, not just to the paint code on the door jamb.
The new color is blended into the adjacent panels so there is no hard transition line.

Where refinishing beats PDR

The paint is cracked, chipped or flaking at the damage.
The metal is stretched, torn or creased too sharply to work out.
A bed side or tailgate has already been repaired badly and needs to be redone.
The finish itself has failed from age, sun or a previous respray, which is common on truck hoods and roofs.

How do you match paint on an older truck?

The paint code is a starting point, not an answer. Sun, age and any previous respray move the color, and truck hoods and roofs bake harder than most panels. The match is made against the actual panel and then blended into the neighbors so the transition is invisible from every angle.

How long does refinishing take compared with paintless repair?

Longer. Refinishing has prep, primer, color, clear and cure stages that cannot be rushed without hurting the result. We give you a realistic window when we look at the vehicle.

Can you repair just one panel?

Yes, and that is most of the work. The panel is repaired and the color is blended into the neighbors so a single-panel repair does not stand out.
